Moving from WordPress.com to wordpress.org

When i started this blog, i wanted to share bits of my life and most of all my photos. When i initiated with wordpress, i really appreciate it : very easy to use . But now, i feel limited. Each time i want to add a plugin on my blog, i realize i can’t do it because a blog created on wordpress.com does not allow it. And you can’t change a lot of others stuffs unless you pay…also, i thought there was no ad on my blog but actually, there are and if i don’t want them to appear i would have to pay 30$ per year…not only that but i cannot choose what kind of publicity they place on my blog. Going through the web, i noticed that i made initially the wrong decision. I should have chosen directly a blog on wordpress.org. At the beginning, it seemed complicated because i had to find a web host, which i was scared of…it sounded very complicated! Finally, after reading and reading and reading more stuffs on the subject, i decided to change to wrodpress.org. I wanted to let you know because apparently, the problem during the transfer is that i will loose all my followers. I am not sure all of these people following are actually reading my blog. I suspect that there are a lot of “i follow your blog so please follow mine” in the bunch (especially the wordpress bloggers). Anyhow, if you are really interested in following my little blog, maybe like my new page on facebook (my god, it is scary to see only 1 person liking this page ;-) ) or remember to check out later certainly after the week-end the new blog address www.amoremiobello.fr. I hope to see you soon!!peruvian hat

My Christmas (table) deco

IMG_7733

This year, we don’t decorate a tree but we had to have our Christmas deco somewhere in the house to get the spirit of Christmas. No tree because as i said in a previous post, we have no space to put one and we KNOW that bambolotta would play with it and we don’t want a big mess of broken ornaments all over the place (it’s a mess and most of all, it is dangerous for little one). The past years i don’t even remember decorating the house apart from one garland here or there…as we don’t usually spend the actual Christmas days at home, we didn’t bother…but now we are a little family, Christmas has a bit more meaning! So, i made a bit of effort and here is what i came up with! I love my Christmas table decoration. I am kinda proud of myself!! ;-) never thought it would be so lovely. And the good part is that i didn’t buy anything (ah yes, i bought candles) but the rest was ornaments from the previous years (thanks Ikea!) and a bit of nature found from past week-ends in Provence. Next on my deco list to do is the fireplace mantel!

her favorite toy @ 14 months

I bought this magic screen when bambolotta was around 1 year old. And there is not 1 single day without her not playing with it! and us of course as she always wants us to draw…(as much as our abilities allow it!! ;-) . the magnetic drawing boards in general are inexpensive : perfect gift for a baby for Christmas!!

Marché des Santons in Marseille

This week-end, i started the Christmas decoration. We won’t decorate a tree this year (way too big to put in our flat and also i know a little one who would play too much with it…that’s also the reason i made the play felt tree!). Bambolotta had some fun with her daddy. We went to the “vieux port” and discovered the “marché des santons”. A santon is a little provencal figurine used for nativity cribs. Some are really cute! We walked a bit in the streets of the center. Some shops were opened but shopping is almost mission impossible with our little bambolotta…she wants only one thing : get out of her stroller…but then, we have no control!!

Since September, i bring Bambolotta to gym classes. Don’t worry, i am not trying to make her become a little athlete. It is really fun, it is only one hour and she can meet other babies (boring to be all the time only with mummy!). I have to tell you it is really great for coordination and balance for our little ones. We can really see how much they improve since the beginning.  Last Friday was opened to all parent/family members and cameras so i shot!

DIY Chair makeover : from dirty to classy

My neighbour is from Tibet and she just arrived in Marseille. She needs everything in her house but still on a budget. I helped her to find stores where you can find cheap second-hand furnitures. It’s amazing how a simple chair can change with a bit of painting and new fabric.

Remove the seats and make sure you cover with tape the parts that don’t need to be painted. Sand your chair to have a smooth surface!

Cover with the fabric of your choice the seats using a stapler. We already used this kind of stapler to place a painting on a wooden frame but it was a first for a chair. It is really a piece of cake! Just make sure the fabric is tight around the seat. I like the fun green flowery fabric my friend chose (vintage spirit!)

Paint a first time with the primer. Let dry. Paint with the color of your choice. Let dry. Paint another time. let dry. The longer here is to wait for the paint to dry between each layer.

Et voilà a beautiful new chair!

Budget : 2,5€ the chair (Emmaüs) + 5€ white paint + leftover primer + fabric (already at home) = 7,5€ the chair

Do you like it? If you already painted a piece of furniture, leave the link in the comments. I love the “Before / After”.

Morning at the beach in Marseille.

This morning, it was morning at the beach. I love it during this time of the year, the sun was there and it was not too cold. Perfect! Until now, i never liked to go to the beach with bambolotta. First of all, she was too little and during the summer, in Marseille, it is REALLY hot and the beaches are crowded with people. Second, they are kinda dirty…(we are still in a big city…). And third, bambolotta loved eating sand…so yummy!

These days, the beaches are empty or almost. And she is bigger. (well, she still loves eating sand and stones…i have to jump to take it out of her mouth!). We enjoyed the biggest beach until she wanted to run in the sea…..we moved then to another tiny creek where a little boy the same age as bambolotta and her granny were playing. They played together with the other baby’s toys and the morning was already gone…

And you, do you like beaches at this time of year?
